Friends of the South was legally established in June 2004, and not as a reaction to the tsunami. The aim of the Board of Directors remains to improve the lives of locals living in Sri Lanka’s southern province over the long term. We plan to be around for many years and as such are developing strategies for projects and funding well into the future.
Exactly what projects we carry out in the future will depend on the evolving situation of the ground. However the philosophy behind the way we operate will remain constant, and future projects will clearly be closely related to projects we are carrying out at the moment.
